Episode #49: “Surprise Concert & Adult Baby Convention”

They open up listening to the theme song to Hoosiers on Rory’s phone. They joke about having a podcast where people just get to listen to them watch Hoosiers, and DVK says that would be good for a Patreon. This is the first time they are back in the studio since Rory was off shooting Robbie. They talk to any new listeners who may have come to the show since their live podcast at Clusterfest, encouraging them to #GrowTheShow. They run some gassers on the way to the letters; DVK gets really sweaty, but Rory feels fine because he’s been working out and they start talking about deodorant. Rory does his foley work and reads the first letter. They start talking about Navy Pier in Chicago, and DVK says that it’s a pain in the ass and there’s never any parking, and Rory says that it’s probably all taken up by dibs. They then try to guess how old Alice Cooper is, and Rory guesses it perfectly, he’s 71. They then try to guess how old Kevin Kline is, he’s also 71. They then invent the game “Are they 71?,” which DVK says should be part of a Pen Pals board game. They start talking about concerts they have seen, Billy Idol is mentioned and DVK wants to add “Eyes Without a Face” to the playlist, and they mention me briefly regarding the website I had just started. DVK guesses Billy Idol is 56, but he’s 63. DVK wants to see Heart, Billy Joel, and Bob Seger before they die. Also Huey Lewis, Reba, and Hall & Oates. The 2nd letter is handwritten on a scroll. They take a picture and post it to the instagram. Rory says that if he found himself at an Adult Baby convention, he would want to jump in and “see what all the jazz was about” (just like he says about autoerotic asphyxiation in his stand-up special). They mention Dave Jacoby bringing them along to the Billionaire Ball, and how Usher did or did not talk to/point at DVK. Rory starts wondering about wearing overalls, and if Osh Kosh B’gosh makes adult sized overalls, and they start wondering where that name came from. Osh Kosh, DVK says, is the name of a town that is near his family’s cabin, and Rory makes it a hashtag. They joke that there should be an Adult Teenager convention. Rory says that if there was such a convention, he would go hardcore goth. They say that people should give themselves a little bit of a taste of the things that they think they are scared of. DVK says that often times when people are so negative about the way that another person lives, it’s because they themselves are unhappy with their own lives.
