Noah appears for the first time as the host, introducing Rory and Daniel at the first ever live Pen Pals podcast thanks to Dave Jacoby. The sing along goes as planned, and they decide that they are going to go sing it again. “Re-rack it! We’re going again.” Rory jokes that he’s jacked on adderall that the billionaire gave them. They joke that they are just here to do the intro, and that they are going to leave, and then wonder how many people are at the show that have no idea what is going on. They say that they went to DTO, Daiquiri time-out. Daniel mentions that Usher was pointing directly at him at the Ball last night. He claims that Usher was trying to speak to him “In 1999 that would be a high water mark.” They introduce Dave Jacoby, the first person to go F2F and is now eligible for an RRGT. Rory tells the story of throwing beads to a man in a wheelchair where the beads landed right on the guy’s tray; and through a closing window at the last possible second. They run some gassers on their way to the letters, and had to run the song twice because it was too quiet. They open with a letter that simply says “I witnessed a murder and I don’t know what to do” and the guys wonder if the letter is finished or not and encourage the sender to complete the thought so that they can spend some time with it. Rory’s wife calls, and then he talks to his daughter really quick right as they are starting to talk about a letter that discusses sexual fetishes. They wonder when it is that people discover the thing that gets them going. “How do you know that popping a balloon does it for you?” Rory manages to sneak in a Footloose reference while he is listing off fetishes. They encourage pennies and pallers to write in and tell about what their fetish is and when they found out that it was their thing. The second letter has the crowd groaning in pain with the number of mistakes that the letter writer made and Rory doesn’t even know where to start. DVK and Rory break into song at one point, singing the words to “Rock On.” Rory mentions King Ponters, hoping that this very uncomfortable letter is phony on some level because there is so much to unpack. They start polling the audience on what the letter-writer should do, or how they should approach their wife to tell them that they are having an affair. After they finish that letter they invite some audience members to come up to read postcards for quick-hits. DVK coins a hashtag, #nationalSwimInALakeDay. Rory and DVK close by thanking all the fans and everyone who likes the podcast, and do a toast “May our lives be like Pop-Tarts: when we’re down we’re down, but when we’re up we’re hot as fuck!”
