During the opening song Rory mentions “that little bass riff.” They get people pumped for the upcoming Atlanta show and say that people NEED to stand up when the song plays during the live show. They also remind people that there is going to be a merch sale at the Atlanta show, and they then go into an explanation of what to expect for the Patreon that they had just started. DVK jokes that he is so happy with how many people have signed up for the patreon that he is getting undressed. They get into a conversation about religion and how it can be comforting, and people can believe what they want, as long as they aren’t dicks. Dan says “don’t infringe” while Rory is talking, but it doesn’t become a hashtag for a while afterwards. Naturally, a discussion of us being in a simulation begins. Rory does a deep dive into the simulation and what is reality etc. DVK makes a reference to “I am soaring!” They talk about how collective consciousness is real. DVK does a teaser before the break about how the guy from Blink-182 got the government to admit that aliens are real. Rory encourages people to just always question everything all the time, especially if the government is trying to tell you something, it’s important to ask yourself why someone is telling you something that they are telling you. What is the benefit? Depth is “willing to ask questions and willingness to live with doubt.” #goofsInTheBudget is a DVK hashtag, coming from a Paller who made some bumper stickers with money that was a “goof in the budget.” Dan asks Rory if he’s ever seen a ghost, and he says he hasn’t outside of a giraffe inside his house, which is a reference to his story from 11/7/2018 “Millennials & Falling for a Friend.“
